Revitalization 2029

A revitalized welcome and greeting area is the threshold through which many people first encounter the spirit of Main Street Presbyterian. The new space turns first impressions into ministry: before worship begins, Christ-centered hospitality helps members, families, neighbors, guests, and seekers feel welcomed, guided, and at home.

The renovation takes in the current church office, the small sitting room, and the floor and rooms above them. In the architect's plan, an entry, secretary's office, sitting room, and parlour become a welcome centre with a welcome desk, a coffee service, and a seating area. Its value is not cosmetic — it is pastoral and missional. A clearer, more accessible greeting space reduces confusion and removes barriers, strengthening the sense of belonging.

The sanctuary is the spiritual heart of the church, where generations have met God in prayer, Word, sacrament, song, grief, joy, and hope. Renewing it preserves the place where God's people are shaped, comforted, and strengthened — and prepares future generations to hear and embrace the Gospel.

After nearly three decades since its last major update in 1995, the sanctuary is ready for a thoughtful renewal: fresh paint, new carpet, updated pew cushions, enhanced lighting, improved air conditioning and heating, and strengthened sound and video capabilities. These updates will bring greater clarity, comfort, and beauty to worship for those in the pews and those joining online.

The renovated choir room and renewed offices sustain the quiet, faithful work behind visible ministry: leadership, pastoral stewardship, care, communication, planning, and service. They remind us that administration becomes ministry when it turns prayer into care, love into action, and vision into faithful practice.

The plan repurposes the choir room and creates a new church office and a new pastor's office positioned near the new parking entrance. Where the north administrative wing now holds a choir room, classrooms, and offices, the renovation provides a prayer chapel, reception, conference room, pastor's office, work and storage space, and controlled access. These improvements strengthen the church's capacity for care and effectiveness, supporting the leadership and coordination of its services and ministries.

The Bateman Building embodies the congregation's commitment to feed, host, teach, serve, organise, and encourage. A revitalized Bateman Building will deepen fellowship, hospitality, community support, and practical ministries through the love of Christ.

Renewing this place honors the gatherings, meals, meetings, ministries, and acts of care that have formed this congregation — and strengthens the space where future families will gather, serve, and grow. The work includes an updated kitchen and fellowship hall, and the building's share of the modernization program described below.

Renewing the Villee Building strengthens the ministry of education, accessibility, and future growth — passing faith to the next generation. It prepares a place where children, youth, adults, and families learn Scripture, ask questions, deepen relationships, and grow as disciples of Christ.

It also ensures that Main Street Christian School, which the building houses, will continue responding faithfully to the needs of the community and fulfil the outreach the congregation desires. Renewing the Villee Building is an investment in those who will carry this church's witness into the future.
